Best Places to Elope on The North Shore

While I work closely with each of my couples to find unique locations for their elopements, here are a few of my favorite places to get married on the North Shore in Minnesota. There are many other locations to pick from so let me know and we can find the best fit!

(Listed in order of distance from Duluth)

Jay Cooke State Park

Located just south of Duluth on I35 sits Jay Cooke State Park! It has beautiful paths along the river and some of the most epic rock formations. Take a trip over the swinging bridge and hike the miles of trails.

Park Point

Although located right in Duluth, take advantage of the beautiful sand beach in the summer or the epic ice and snow formations in the winter.

Lakeside Beach

This is one of my ‘secret’ spots to shoot at. It is fun to go at different times of the year because the water level will determine how big of the beach we get, if we will see the black sand, or even get to the giant rock!

Stoney Point

Just a quick 30 minute drive north you will find yourself at Stoney Point! Come elope to the sound of crashing waves and climb on the large rocks. There also is a beach if you would like the best of both worlds!

Larsmont Cottages

Great for smaller elopements with gorgeous condos, a small private room for a dinner or reception, and a great ceremony space overlooking Lake Superior. (check out blog post here)

Gooseberry State Park

The water falls, the cliffs, the trails… What more could you ask for? Keep in mind this location will be very busy, so it is important to chat on when the best time is to avoid the most people!

Cove Point Lodge

Hike out to the point and say your vows as the sun sets behind the trees. Located just minutes north of Gooseberry and Split Rock! Stay the weekend and hanging out on the lawn in their large chairs.

Bluefin Bay

Tuck yourself into the cove and have your elopement surrounded by the lush greens and beautiful blues of the lake. They have a long lakewalk and private beach to enjoy. (check out the blog post here)

Cedar Cliff Retreat

Nestled on the shore right before you head into Lutsen lies this adorable house that you can rent. It has access to the perfect ceremony spot on the water and catches the afternoon light perfectly. This is a great spot for smaller elopements with family and close friends. (website here)

Lutsen Resort

If you are wanting more of a getaway style elopement, consider Lutsen! They have beautiful rooms with lake views and a variety of outside hangout areas (including roasting marshmallows), hiking trails or spend the winter on the slopes!
