What Makes a Good Elopement Location
The place that you get married is totally a big deal! This is the place where you are going to exchange your vows that holds so much significance and should be unique to you and or what you love to do. I have done all types of elopements from 20 person intimate wedding to two people on the cliffs of Lake Superior. I have learned that some of the most meaningful elopements are one with intentional locations.
Here are some things to consider when you are going to pick your elopement location:
Privacy
If you want to elope in a public place like a State Park or common tourist location, I always recommend choosing a weekday. You’ll find fewer crowds and you’re less likely to have a group of strangers passing by – which might distract you from being fully present and won’t have the same type of connection.
Scenery
Your elopement location should be something close and personal to you or something you love to do. Do you love hiking in the woods, or listening to the waves? When you think about your ideal wedding day, are you saying “I do” on a beach, on a cliff, or in a forest? Narrowing down a type of scenery will help you find an elopement location that feels unique to your relationship.
Accessibility
Accessibility is something that is very important and often not thought about. If you have older family coming for your elopement ceremony, I’ll help you look for flat, relatively easy paths. I will also do my best to help select your location based on the season as well! Some places are easy to get to in the summer but not in the winter.
Meaning
I encourage couples to think about locations that have sentimental value. Think of the anniversaries, dates, firsts, and moments of growth you’ve shared: where did those moments happen?
Familiarity
If you know what type of scenery you want for your elopement, but you’re not sure where to go from there? I’m more than happy to help you choose a location from a list of epic places that I’ve already been to or secret spots up my sleeve!
