How to Include Family in Your Elopement
As you start to plan your elopement, it’s important to decide whether you want the experience to be private and just the two of you, or if you want family to be there too. Your elopement is all about you two, and if you want your family to be apart of it, here are a few ideas!
Before the elopement…
Invite family members to help you shop for the perfect elopement attire
Ask family members to write letters or words of wisdom for you two to open and read through together
Plan a send-off dinner a few days before
If you planning on handling the paperwork at a city hall before your actual elopement day, consider inviting a couple family members to be your witnesses
During the elopement…
Call or Facetime your family on the morning of your elopement - they are very excited for you too!
Consider bringing personal elements such as ‘something blue’ or ‘something old/new’
Read through some of the words of wisdom or letters from your family members
After the elopement…
Throw a party, invite family to celebrate! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy (backyard bbq?!)
Send family members a printed photo and a personal note. They have been there to support you two!
Share a slideshow of your elopement images or if you hire a videographer to watch together with family
